1638 enters traffic
18th February 2006

Today saw the newly finished Maunsell 'U' class 1638 in service for the first time with something other than a test train. A survivor from the famous Barry scrapyard after the purchase was funded by George Nickson, it is now back in running order for the first time in over 40 years. As a bonus, the locomotive was also in service the following day on the lunchtime Golden Arrow.
